Using the Word Add-In, you can generate summaries, ask targeted questions, analyze specific clauses, and run pre-built workflows - without leaving your document.

Once the add-in is installed, you'll see the **"Ask questions or make changes to the document"** button in your Word ribbon. Clicking it opens the Jurisphere Assistant panel.&#x20;

Some common use-cases are as follows:

* Summarize an entire document or specific sections in seconds
* Ask questions about clauses, obligations, or defined terms
* Analyze selected portions for risks, ambiguities, or missing provisions
* Run pre-built workflows for tasks like contract review, due diligence checklists, or clause extraction.
  {% endcolumn %}

### How It Works

### Step 1: Choose Your Scope

When you open the add-in panel, you have two options for how Jurisphere reads your document:&#x20;

{% column %}

<figure><img src="https://3330719282-files.gitbook.io/~/files/v0/b/gitbook-x-prod.appspot.com/o/spaces%2F2zbn28n79AjHkgxNqfPb%2Fuploads%2F4isfCjXNJWwoqC3f8OnW%2FScreenshot%202026-03-27%20at%2012.26.19%E2%80%AFAM.png?alt=media&#x26;token=345b54d9-e920-4035-b3c6-7b11f0f2f718" alt=""><figcaption></figcaption></figure>
{% endcolumn %}

{% column %}

* **Whole Document** — Jurisphere processes the entire document as context. Best for generating full summaries, running workflows, or asking broad questions that span multiple sections.
* **Selection Only** — Highlight a specific portion of your document before submitting your query. Jurisphere will focus exclusively on the selected text. *Ideal for analyzing a particular clause, reviewing a single definition, or rewriting a specific paragraph.*
  {% endcolumn %}
  {% endcolumns %}

### Step 2: Type Your Question or Instruction

In the input field, type your question, request, or instruction in plain language. You can be as brief or as detailed as you need — from a simple *"Summarize this document"* to a multi-part instruction like *"Identify all indemnity provisions, flag any that are one-sided, and suggest balanced alternatives."*

### Step 3: Enhance Your Prompt

{% embed url="<https://drive.google.com/file/d/1s2s0OQjUpBxaAdNZoYfXi7gGSnvi8BTl/view?usp=sharing>" %}

Not sure if your query is detailed enough? Press the **Tab key** on your keyboard to activate [**Prompt Enhancement**](https://jurisphere.gitbook.io/jurisphere-guide/document-review/overview-of-the-document-review-tool#prompt-enhancement). Jurisphere will automatically refine your input - breaking it down into a more structured, detailed prompt that gives the AI clearer direction and produces more comprehensive results.

**Example:**

| What you type | What Prompt Enhancement produces |
| ---------------------- | --------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------- |
| *"Review this clause"* | *"Analyze the selected clause for potential risks, ambiguities, and enforceability issues. Identify any terms that may be one-sided or inconsistent with standard market practice. Suggest improvements where applicable."* |

{% hint style="info" %}
Prompt Enhancement is especially useful when you know what you want but aren't sure how to phrase it for the best output.
{% endhint %}

### Step 4: Review the Response

Jurisphere returns its response in the panel with **in-line citations** linking back to specific portions of your Word document. Click any citation to jump directly to the relevant text, so you can verify every answer at its source.

### In-Line Citations

{% embed url="<https://drive.google.com/file/d/1hyGe8F_hjDvO2zYWKHmgpj_M3zmsQ4o1/view?usp=sharing>" %}

Every response that draws from your document includes **in-line citations:** clickable references that point directly to the relevant portion of your Word document. This ensures you can always trace an answer back to its source, maintaining accuracy and accountability in your review process.

### Run Workflows

Jurisphere's includes pre-built [**Workflows**](#run-workflows) - structured, repeatable processes designed for common legal tasks. These workflows are available directly through the Word Add-In, so you can run them on your document without switching to the browser.

**How to use it:**

1. Select whether you want the workflow to run on the "Whole Document" or "Selection Only" of a specific portion.
2. Select a workflow from the available options
3. The workflow runs against your document and returns structured output in the panel

### Tips for Best Results

* **Be specific.** Instead of *"Review this contract,"* try *"Identify any one-sided indemnity provisions in this contract."*
* **Use Prompt Enhancement** when you're unsure how to frame a complex question.
* **Combine features.** Summarize first to understand the document, then ask targeted follow-up questions on sections that need closer attention.
* **Leverage Workflows** for repetitive tasks you perform across multiple documents.
